Maniak Monthly Awards-Sept. 2017

After one of the deepest drafts in years, the league was expected to be full of fireworks on offense in the early going.  But it was the defenses that came out firing, as the relocated Mammoths produced a near shutout in Week 1, and Tampa rode theirs to the high score of the week.

The stud rookie so far is not one of the THREE runners the Clowns drafted in Round 1, but a second rounder who was getting very little hype.  Kareem Hunt is the big reason why New Orleans is 3-0 so far and looking like one of the favorites for the title.  Don’t count out the usual suspects though.  The Clowns have had some injuries, but QB Andrew Luck is expected to be playing soon, and those rookie runners are bound to find their way eventually.  They also have Todd Gurley playing like he did as a rookie.  And Springfield, with Tom Brady still performing like he’s in his prime, is loaded for a run at back-to-back titles.
